Pattie is a Regional Technology Transfer Specialist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Technology Transfer Program (VA TTP). She leads a team of technology transfer professionals with a mission to facilitate the commercialization of VA inventions to benefit Veterans and the American public. Pattie manages IP and commercialization for VA Medical Centers and academic partners in eight states from the Pacific Northwest to the Southeast U.S. She is proud and honored to work with outstanding VA researchers to bring research advancements for Veterans to everyone.
Pattie began her government service in 2018 as Chief Data Scientist at the National Technical Information Service, an agency within the U.S. Department of Commerce. While at DOC, she received the 2020 GEARS of Government Award from the Executive Office of the President for her work in creating a common data platform and analytic tool to address malaria globally, supporting the President’s Malaria Initiative team to draw insight and make evidence-based policy decisions.
Pattie’s background working in the private sector includes over twenty years in the clinical biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry, working on global clinical trials, regulatory compliance, data science, organizational development, and performance management. Her experience in both the private and public sectors helps her work effectively on complex matters that arise in technology transfer and biotech IP management.
