Marc Malandro

Marc Malandro serves as the Vice President of Science Operations and Interim Head of Science Grant Programs at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). CZI Science’s approach is to accelerate biomedical discovery and progress toward solving diseases by developing shared tools and technologies and supporting open, collaborative, and networked models of research. We BUILD open source software tools to accelerate science and facilitate the generation of more representative, accurate, and biologically important sources of data. We FUND scientific research worldwide to advance the frontiers of knowledge, and we launched a family of institutes to DO research that can’t be done in conventional environments.

Previously, Dr. Malandro was the Vice Chancellor for Technology Management and Commercialization and the Founding Director of the Innovation Institute at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Malandro received his B.S. and M.S. in Biological Sciences and D.Sc. from Youngstown State University and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Florida College of Medicine.
